Food matters talks about the world of pharmaceutical drugs. They claim that disease numbers have rose over the years. That if the medical field really cared about overall health, rather than profit. They would be taking more approaches. The video focuses on nutritional therapy. Claiming this could cause an epidemic of health. But since Doctors can only tell you want they are taught. They will tell you vitamins are crucial to health, to not take them. Food matters disagrees, saying that the body is its own healing mechanism. That when given high doses of nutrients, the body cannot get sick. And if sick or terminally ill, this diet can have a reverse on any disease.
They discuss in many different ways that these diets are cheaper, safer, and effective. This can help not only on your overall health, but your mood as well. They want the people take responsibility and have their own say. To stop being a patient and be a person. This will make more and more people see such benefits. Putting a bigger impact on the diet vs. pharmaceuticals drugs.
Claims from the film:
-High doses of Vitamin C can cure cancer.
-Niacin can cure depression.
-A healthy body cannot get sick.
-Nutritional therapy can cure and reverse diseases.
-Japan women have less than 1% chance of getting breast cancer, because of their diet.
-Our medical system is not worried about preventing or curing diseases, only their profit.
My opinion:
I would have to say that they video was very persuasive. I would have to agree that a nutritional diet can approve health and mood. Do I think it can cure diseases? No. My reason why is because diet is not the only factor in disease or fighting disease. Sure a healthier body will have an easier time but what about our environment. The film did mention that since we don't give our food proper diets; We have to substitute with steroids. We our ruining the air we breathe with the sprays being put on crops.
Possible I-Search paper questions:
1. Why is our medical field against vitamins?
2. Can Niacin really treat depression?
3. Is it possible to live off of super foods?
